ABOUT & CONTACT

Hello and welcome!
My name is Nicky. Like a lot of people I learned to knit at a young age. Luckily for me I loved it straight away and am still knitting now, decades later.
Knitting is my happy place; the one thing that will always put a smile on my face. But I know that is not the case for everyone.
I have met many people who believe they can't knit, so never started. Or people who tried to learn, but for whatever reason gave up.
Now, I'm not the kind of person who thinks that everyone has to love what I love. However, knitting is one of those things that are popular right now because it's a traditional craft, because it can be slow and meditative, and because many people want to make things unique to them.
Whatever the reason, you are here now, on my website, so I am going to assume you have some interest in knitting. Why not try my Yes, You Can Knit method?
The articles give you all the information (and more!) you need to get started. Better yet, you can contact me via this website, via Facebook (there is a dedicated group!) or Instagram or email me. I promise to get back to you as soon as possible and help in any way I can.
My approach
How I Can Help You With Your Knitting
Knitting is a deeply personal craft, and no two people learn or create in exactly the same way. My approach is centred around you—your comfort, your preferences, and your goals.
Teaching You in a Way That Suits You
Everyone learns differently. Some people prefer step-by-step guidance, others like to dive in and learn by doing, and some need to understand the “why” behind each technique. What sets me apart is that I take the time to discover how you learn best, and tailor my teaching style to suit you. This makes the learning process more enjoyable, effective, and empowering.
Providing You With the Right Tools
The tools you use can make a huge difference to your knitting experience. From traditional needles to alternative options like looms, square needles, or even knitting machines, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. I help you explore what feels right in your hands and suits your projects, so you can knit more comfortably and confidently.
Showing You Different Ways of Doing Things
There isn’t just one “correct” way to knit. In fact, there are many techniques to achieve the same result. I’ll introduce you to a variety of methods so you can discover what works best for you. Whether it’s how you hold your yarn or execute a stitch, my goal is to help you find your own natural rhythm.
Helping You With Posture and Grip
Many knitters experience tension in their neck, shoulders, or hands without even realising it. Holding needles too tightly or sitting in an awkward position can lead to discomfort over time. I’ll guide you in improving your posture and grip so that knitting feels relaxed, sustainable, and enjoyable—even during longer sessions.
Explaining Technical Terms and Patterns
Knitting patterns can often feel like a different language, full of abbreviations, charts, and technical terms that can be overwhelming at first. I break these down into clear, simple explanations so you can quickly understand and use them. With the right guidance, you’ll be able to read patterns and charts with confidence and independence.
